Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV seeks a detail-oriented Dental Assistant to support the dentist and health team during school visits and in-clinic exams. You will accompany the Dentist to schools, prepare paperwork, and educate patients about oral health while helping maintain instruments and records.

This in-person role requires accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to infection control standards. Willingness to travel between counties is needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Assist providers during patient examination and treatment as instructed.
• Record treatment procedures in electronic health records as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers during patient examination and treatment as instructed
• Greets patients and prepares for exam by ensuring patients are properly seated, draped and aligned for examination
• Transfers dental instruments and supplies to provider during treatment.
• Maintains a clean, dry oral operating field by using high velocity evacuation systems
• Prepares, mixes, measures and dispenses various materials as instructed during dental procedures
• Ensures all equipment is clean, sanitized and disinfected at all times
• Obtains dental supplies and instruments from stock area
• Prepares and arranges dental instruments, materials and medication for use during patient care
• Ensure that all instrumentation is sterilized by appropriate methods
• Returns instruments and equipment to appropriate area
• Sets up and assists with a wide variety of highly specialized patient care procedures in a high specialized patient care environments
• Records treatment procedures or other information within the electronic record, obtaining prompt electronic provider approvals as necessary
• Provides administrative support and assistance as needed in order to meet the operational needs of the clinics.
