Multnomah County is offering a Health Assistant 2 - Dental Assistant Trainee (Limited Duration) program as part of the ICS Dental EFDA/EFDA Training Program. Trainees work toward PrevDA/EFDA certifications over 9–12 months, with county-supported certification costs, and may follow EFDA or non-EFDA tracks after certification.

Graduates commit to working for ICS Dental for two years post-certification, with multiple clinic locations across the county and a tentative start date of November 17,

Qualifications

• High School completion or GED certificate (college or university degree can substitute).
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Transferable skills are evaluated; non-traditional education, training and experience are considered.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform direct clinical assistance and support to dentists and dental hygienists.
• Assist in four-handed dentistry, mix materials, place rubber dams, take study models, impressions, and diagnostic x‑rays.
• Triage emergency patients and communicate patient needs to providers.
• Provide oral hygiene instructions and information on healthy food choices.
• Set up operatories, follow infection control guidelines, and disinfect instruments.
