You will play a key role in supporting surgical procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and maintaining a sterile and efficient operating environment. Responsibilities

1. Assist the Periodontist during various periodontal surgeries, including soft tissue grafts, pocket reduction procedures, crown lengthening, osseous surgery, and dental implant placement.
2. Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and sterile fields following infection control protocols (OSHA/CDC).
3. Take and process high-quality digital radiographs and cone beam CT scans as required.
4. Record patient vitals and assist with patient monitoring during procedures.
5. Provide clear pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients.
6. Maintain operatory cleanliness, organization, and stock supplies to support clinical workflow.
7. Document procedures, findings, and care in the electronic health record system (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft).
8. Support implant and surgical case planning, including setup, guided surgery coordination, and lab communication.
9. Manage inventory of surgical materials, instruments, and implant components.
10. Serve as a calming and informative presence for anxious patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of dental assisting experience, with 2–3 years in a surgical or periodontal setting.
• Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credentials.
• Radiology and CPR/BLS certifications are required.
• Strong knowledge of periodontal and implant procedures.
• Proficiency in dental imaging, impressions, and sterilization protocols.
• Excellent communication skills with a professional and compassionate demeanor.
• Experience with guided implant surgery or digital workflows is preferred.
• Anesthesia or IV sedation monitoring certification (if permitted in your state).
• Familiarity with periodontal charting and software such as PerioChart or similar.
