Job summary

AllWays Community Health Center in Topeka, KS is seeking a capable dental assistant to support care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, instruments, and materials, passing tools, and taking intraoral x-ray films while assisting the dentist during procedures.

You will uphold infection-control practices, document procedures in patient charts, educate patients on oral hygiene, and help maintain a safe, organized clinic in compliance with the dental practice act.

Responsibilities

• Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Welcomes and seats patient, takes intraoral x-rays as indicated, and helps with treatment setup.
• Provides information to patients and staff by answering questions and requests.
• Sterilizes and delivers instruments, positions them for dentist’s access, and assists during procedures.
• Prepares and places materials in instruments and in the patient’s mouth.
• Exposes and develops radiographic images to provide diagnostic information.
• Assists in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification and emergency supplies.
• Educates patients on oral hygiene and postoperative instructions.
• Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
• Maintains confidentiality and infection-control standards; ensures safe environment.
• Maintains dental equipment and inventory, and supports maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Contributes to team effort and represents clinic positively in the community.
