VCU Dental Care in Richmond, VA is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide hands-on clinical support to Graduate Periodontics during periodontal surgeries, implants, sedation, and perioperative care. You will help prepare patients and operatories, assist during procedures, manage records, and ensure a safe, organized environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least one year of dental assisting experience; CPR/BLS certification is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of dental assisting experience.
• Experience assisting with periodontal or oral surgery procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of dental instruments, sterile technique, and infection control practices.
• Familiarity with sedation procedures and patient monitoring preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain as required.
• Strong organizational, communication, and patient care skills.

Responsabilités

• Prepare patients, operatories, instruments, and equipment for surgical and sedation procedures.
• Assist providers during periodontal surgery, implant placement, and related procedures.
• Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, diagnostic imaging, and sedation records.
• Monitor sedated patients within the scope of training and applicable requirements.
• Provide post-operative instructions as directed by the provider.
• Prepare and maintain implant components, graft materials, surgical guides, and related supplies.
• Perform instrument sterilization, operatory turnover, and routine equipment checks.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and VCU Dental Care policies.
• Communicate effectively with providers and clinical team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
