Commonwealth Dentistry in Mechanicsville, VA is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our growing group practice. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists across a range of procedures and ensure a smooth patient experience from check-in to post-treatment instructions.

The role involves chairside assistance, taking and developing radiographs, sterilizing instruments, maintaining patient comfort, and helping with charting and education on oral hygiene.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting: 2 years (Preferred)
• X-Ray Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
• Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse
• Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
• Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures
• Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
• Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
• Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery
• Completes instrument cleaning & sterilization and post-op sanitization of treatment rooms
• Prepares dental materials and equipment as needed for the scheduled treatment
• Completes dental charting
• Other duties may be assigned
