Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures
• Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Ask about patient medical history and take blood pressure and pulse
• Infection control officer: develop protocol and sterilize instruments
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment
• Provide post-procedure oral care instructions to patients
• Teach patients oral hygiene practices including brushing and flossing
• Take impressions of teeth for study casts
• Support direct patient care in all dental specialties including pediatrics
• Complete instrument cleaning and room sanitization
• Prepare dental materials and equipment for scheduled treatment
• Complete dental charting
• Other duties as assigned
