Job summary

Familia Dental in Clovis, NM is seeking a Dental Assistant to join our team. No certification required upfront; on-the-job training provided to help you succeed in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will support the dentist with patient care, manage rooms, take histories and vital signs, and assist with x-rays while educating patients on oral health. Part-time hours available, offering a meaningful career path.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer/patient service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening abilities.
• Basic computer knowledge; experience with dental management software (Denticon preferred).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Able to carry out written and verbal instructions and manage multiple tasks.
• Meet state DA duties requirements and hold BLS/CPR and radiography certificates.
• Dental assisting experience is preferred but not required; healthcare experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patients from reception to treatment areas in a professional manner.
• Ensure treatment rooms are stocked and prepared; reorder supplies as needed.
• Take and record patient histories, vital signs, and basic measurements.
• Document all procedures per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays; assist during procedures.
• Sterilize instruments, prepare trays, and assist the Dentist during procedures.
• Provide patient education on oral health, brushing, flossing, and dietary tips.
• Attend morning huddles and participate in regular office meetings.

Job Purpose

To assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patient in a professional and friendly manner from reception area to and from the treatment areas.
• Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
• Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse.
• Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist Dentist during dental procedures.
• Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health, and oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
• Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns
• Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews and regular office meetings.
• Recognize and be sensitives to patients’ emotions
• Understand and follow company policy and procedures
• Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications / Skill Sets

• Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate
• Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience working within healthcare or related field strongly preferred

Availability / Schedule

Working hours between: M-F, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Sat, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

• Part time employment:
• 2+ days a week, 29 hours or less per week
• available to work Saturdays, when needed
• multiple half day shifts or fewer full day shifts
