Job summary

Familia Dental Peoria is seeking dedicated individuals to join our dental team as Dental Assistants. No certification required; on-the-job training provided to help you succeed.

You will support the dentist, maintain sterile rooms, take x-rays, and educate patients on oral health, within a fast-paced, caring environment. This great entry point offers growth and advancement at Familia Dental.

Qualifications

• Must provide exceptional customer/patient service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and dental software experience; Denticon preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Able to carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
• Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; BLS/CPR and radiography certificates.
• Dental assisting experience is preferred but not required.
• Healthcare experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patients in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ensure treatment rooms are stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
• Take and record patient medical/dental histories and vital signs.
• Document and chart dental procedures per dentist's instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and assist dentists during procedures.
• Provide dental education to patients on oral health and hygiene.
• Notify Office Manager of equipment issues or safety concerns.
• Attend and participate in morning huddles and office meetings.
• Support adherence to company policies and dental laws.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Job Purpose

To assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patient in a professional and friendly manner from reception area to and from the treatment areas.
• Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
• Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse.
• Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist Dentist during dental procedures.
• Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health, and oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
• Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns
• Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews and regular office meetings.
• Recognize and be sensitives to patients’ emotions
• Understand and follow company policy and procedures
• Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office
• Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications/Skill Sets

• Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is preferred.

• Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate
• Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience working within healthcare or related field strongly preferred

Availability / Schedule:

Working hours between: M-F, 8 AM - 6 PM and Sat, 9 AM - 5 PM

• 4+ days a week, 30-40 hours per week
• available to work Saturdays, when needed
• Full shifts (8-10 hours)
