Job summary

Familia Dental & Vivid Smiles in Springfield, IL is hiring Dental Assistants for a part-time role. No certification required; on-the-job training provided to help you succeed.

You will support the dentist and clinical team in a fast-paced, friendly office. Shift hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM–4:00 PM; 2+ days per week, up to 29 hours weekly; occasional additional half-day shifts.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer service and patient focus.

• Experience with dental management software Denticon preferred.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
• Detail oriented and able to follow instructions.
• Meet state requirements for DA duties and CPR/BLS.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patients professionally from reception to treatment.
• Ensure treatment rooms are stocked and inventory is managed.
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs.
• Document all procedures per Dentist’s instructions.
• Take and develop dental X-rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and temporary restorations as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize instruments and assist during procedures.
• Provide dental education on oral health and hygiene.
• Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or safety concerns.
• Attend morning huddles and team meetings.
• Respect patient emotions and follow policy and laws.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Job Purpose

To assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and escort patient in a professional and friendly manner from reception area to and from the treatment areas.
• Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
• Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse.
• Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
• Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
• Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist Dentist during dental procedures.
• Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health, and oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
• Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns
• Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews and regular office meetings.
• Recognize and be sensitives to patients’ emotions
• Understand and follow company policy and procedures
• Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications/Skill Sets

• Exceptional customer/patient service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
• Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is preferred.
• Ability to work in fast paced, patient-focused environment.
• Detail oriented.
• Able to carry out written and verbal instructions
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate
• Dental assisting experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience working within healthcare or related field strongly preferred

Availability / Schedule

Working hours between: M-F, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Sat, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

• Part-time employment:
• 2+ days a week, 29 hours or less per week
• available to work Saturdays, when needed
• multiple half day shifts or fewer full day shifts
