Job summary

SALT Dental Partners in Fruitland, Idaho, is seeking an energetic orthodontic assistant to join our dedicated team. You will greet patients, assist during procedures, take radiographs and impressions, and help maintain a sterile, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Six or more months of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant.
  • CPR or BCLS certification.
  • CODA-accredited dental assisting program (preferred).
  • Quick learner with problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Technical and troubleshooting skills for software used for charting, patient records, and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, tying arch wires, and taking consistent, accurate impressions.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and work as a team player.
  • Commitment to punctuality and timely reporting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for professional growth.
  • Organized and possess superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile.
  • Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable before, during, and after their appointments.
  • Take and process dental radiographs, impressions, and intraoral photos.
  • Prepare and sterilize the treatment room and equipment.
  • Provide chair‑side assistance to providers during treatment procedures.
  • Document orthodontic care services by charting in patients’ records.
  • Assist the orthodontist in assessing a patients teeth and implementing a treatment plan.
  • Perform routine orthodontic duties, including cleaning and adjusting orthodontic gear.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient‑centric working environment.
  • Maintain strict compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, Employee Handbook).
