Responsibilities
- Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile.
- Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable before, during, and after their appointments.
- Take and process dental radiographs, impressions, and intraoral photos.
- Prepare and sterilize the treatment room and equipment.
- Provide chair‑side assistance to providers during treatment procedures.
- Document orthodontic care services by charting in patients’ records.
- Assist the orthodontist in assessing a patient's teeth and implementing a treatment plan.
- Perform routine orthodontic duties, including cleaning and adjusting orthodontic gear.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient‑centric working environment.
Maintain strict compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, Employee Handbook).
Qualifications
- Six (6) or more months of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant.
- CPR or BCLS certification.
- Completion of a CODA‑accredited dental assisting program (preferred).
- Quick learner with problem‑solving skills.
- Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Technical and troubleshooting skills for software used for charting, patient records, and scheduling.
- Proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, tying arch wires, and taking consistent, accurate impressions.
- Desire and ability to learn new skills and work as a team player.
- Commitment to punctuality and timely reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for professional growth.
- Organized and possess superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology.
