Job summary

SALT Dental Partners in Albany, Oregon is looking for an Orthodontic Assistant to join our dedicated dental team. You will provide chair-side assistance and ensure patients are comfortable and well-informed throughout their treatment experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least six months of experience in orthodontics, certification in CPR or BCLS, and a commitment to professionalism. Join us to make a positive impact in patients' lives!

Qualifications

  • Six months or more of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant.
  • Certification in CPR or Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, and taking accurate impressions.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile.
  • Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable before, during, and after their appointment about their treatment and oral health.
  • Take and process dental radiographs, impressions and intraoral photos.
  • Prepare and sterilize treatment room and equipment.
  • Provide chair-side assistance to Providers during treatment procedures.
  • Document orthodontic care services by charting in patients’ records.
  • Assist the orthodontist in assessing a patient's teeth and implementing a plan to straighten them.
  • Perform routine orthodontic duties, including cleaning and adjusting orthodontic gear.
  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient-centric working environment.
  • Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, Employee Handbook).
Qualifications
  • Six (6) or more months of practical experience as an orthodontic assistant.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program.
  • Quick learner with problem solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Technical and troubleshooting skills for software applications used for charting, patient records, scheduling, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in fitting bands and brackets, tying in arch wires and taking consistent, accurate impressions.
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills and be a team player.
  • Commitment to being punctual and reporting to work on time.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire for professional growth.
  • Be organized and possess a superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology.
