Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the dentist during procedures and prepare the patient and operatory for treatment. You will organize the operatory, handle tray setup, and explain procedures to patients.

You’ll also assist chairside with procedures and perform radiographs, impressions, and fabricate trays as needed, while adhering to HIPAA and safety standards. The role requires prior dental assisting education and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a certified dental assistant program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a dental practice/hospital setting preferred.

• Prepares and explains the dental procedure to the patient. (10%)
• Assists the dentist chairside with all dental procedures. (50%)
• Takes and develops intraoral/panorex/cephlometric x-rays, impressions and fabricates custom fluoride/bleaching trays. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred

• Graduate of a certified dental assistant program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a dental practice/hospital setting preferred.

• CPR - American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Must pass national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam within 30 days of hire or possess a record of passing the former Pennsylvania-specific radiology exam if qualified prior to 12/12/2009.
