Qualifications

• Certificate in Dental Assisting from an accredited school is required.
• Prior experience in a dental office or healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients into dental treatment rooms and prepares them for the dentist.
• Prepares instruments and supplies for dental care and treatment.
• Assists the dentist by handling instruments, suctioning, and irrigating as directed.
• Reassures patients and provides explanations as needed.
• Dismisses patients after treatment and helps as needed.
• Cleans the treatment room and prepares it for the next patient.
• Sterilizes instruments and performs autoclave testing.
• Participates in quality assurance/risk management meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma
