Creighton University’s School of Dentistry seeks a part-time Dental Assistant III for our After-hours clinic in Omaha. The role supports emergency-room referrals after hours, focusing on adult tooth extractions with a first-come-first-serve flow for up to nine patients per night.

Responsibilities include patient check-in/out, radiographs, equipment maintenance, record-keeping, and coordinating follow-up care within a bilingual-friendly team environment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited dental assisting program with Radiology Certification.
• 10 years of dental assisting experience, preferably serving vulnerable populations.
• Experience operating portable and mobile dental equipment and portable radiographs.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and dental record keeping.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, FERPA, and Infection Control standards in clinical and community settings.
• Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.

• Prepares work areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies needed for patient care.
• Takes X-rays as needed
• Responsible for maintaining equipment and instruments as well as their proper disinfection, transportation practices, sterilization, and storage.
• Helps to assure authorizations and consents to treat and update medical histories.
• Make sure that records are complete and up to date in a timely manner.
• Ensure appropriate follow-up care is arranged.

Job description

Creighton University's School of Dentistry is seeking to hire a Dental Assistant III to work part-time in our After-hours clinic. Tentative schedule is Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The primary focus of the After-Hours clinic is to give an option to emergency rooms across the metro to send patients who present to the emergency room after hours with pain or infection. This clinic will be exclusively dedicated to adult tooth extractions. Up to nine patients per night will be seen on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Checks in patients and collects established co-pay for the After-Hours Clinic and ensures the patient is properly checked out after the procedure.

• Experience in applying HIPAA, FERPA, and Infection Control standards in both clinical and community-based settings.
• Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.
