Job Overview

This role involves assisting the dentist with clinical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting patient care. The position offers a 4-day work week, totaling 34 hours.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the dentist at chairside using 4-handed technique for instrument and material transfer.
  2. Ensure all instruments and supplies are prepared for procedures.
  3. Maintain a dry working area using suction.
  4. Expose and process dental radiographs.
  5. Set up and break down treatment rooms between patients.
  6. Disinfect and sterilize instruments and equipment between patients.
  7. Keep treatment rooms stocked and organized.
  8. Perform laboratory duties such as pouring, trimming, and separating models.
  9. Participate in duties like drug cabinet maintenance, lab cleaning, gas level checks, spore testing, and autoclave cleaning.
  10. Support the operating room as a dental scrub nurse when needed.
Additional Clinical Tasks
  • Perform coronal polishing during dental cleanings.
  • Apply pit and fissure sealants to children’s teeth as per dentist’s criteria.
Non-Clinical Activities
  • Attend mandatory training and education sessions.
  • Participate in quality management activities such as chart audits and competency validation.
  • Complete safety and survey obligations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years of dental assisting experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Current CPR certification (training provided upon hire).
Physical & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; patient handling equipment used for heavier lifts.
  • Completion of approved coronal polishing and sealant courses.
