Job summary

Contentnea Health is a Community Health Center delivering a broad range of medical, dental and behavioral health services to communities in eastern North Carolina. The Dental Assistant assists dentists, seats patients, records histories and takes radiographs while maintaining cleanliness of operatories and instruments.

You will support the team during procedures and help with sterilization and instrument care.

Qualifications

• Trade school or certificate program in dental assisting.
• Formal written and verbal communication skills.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the delivery of dental treatment and seats patients.
• Maintains dental operatories, instruments and equipment.
• Records vital signs and dental histories; charts conditions as directed.
• Obtains dental radiographs as needed.
• Provides chairside assistance during procedures.

Job Summary

Assists dentists and maintains cleanliness of the operatories and equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Provides assistance in the delivery of dental treatment.
   1. Seats patients, obtains/records vital signs and charts medical/dental histories.
   2. Charts oral conditions as dictated by dental provider.
   3. Prepares dental instruments for procedure.
   4. Obtains dental radiographs as needed.
   5. Provides chair side assistance to dental provider during dental procedure.
2. Provides inter-procedural support.
   1. Maintains dental handpieces.
   2. Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains dental operatories.
   3. Cleans, sanitizes, and sterilizes dental instruments.
   4. Maintains dental laboratory.
   5. Pours impressions and trims models.
   6. Processes lab cases.
   7. Assists practice manager as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, technical or health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program.

Possesses specific knowledge and training in the practice of dental assisting typically acquired through completion of a dental assisting program.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
