Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide quality dental care in an institutional setting. The incumbent performs instrument setup, patient preparation and post-treatment sterilization, while ensuring proper sanitation and supply management.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of dental assisting experience, and a state-approved training certificate. A valid driver’s license and minimum age of 18 are required.

Responsibilities

• Review services to prevent duplication of procedures.
• Track patient treatment status and required interventions.

The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.

• Assistant dentist with the treatment of inmates/residents by setting up all instruments for each patient and treatment to be rendered and preparing impressions and filling materials.
• After each treatment, sterilize the dental unit and instruments used and replace instruments prior to the next patient treatment.
• Control medication, syringes and other dental supplies or equipment; inventory as required by established procedures
• Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review status of inmates/residents for completion of all necessary intervention and treatments and services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent or greater.
• One year of dental assisting experience is required.Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program or other requirements that meet the criteria of the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice, in compliance with contract or applicable statutes is required.A valid driver's license is required.Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
