About the job: Dental Assistant - FCI Ashland

Work Location: Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution-Ashland, Health Services Department, St. Route 716, Ashland, KY 41105

• Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquiries, Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.
• Type of Employment: Full-Time, up to 40 hours per week.
• Estimate Pay: $23.15/hour.
• Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours, starting on day one.
• Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours, starting on day one.
• Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) days.

Working Hours

The Dental Assistant typically works Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, not exceeding 40 hours per week.

Summary of Duties

The Dental Assistant is responsible for data collection and entry, maintaining patient records and confidentiality, retrieving patient records, escorting patients, preparing patients for procedures, assisting Dental Officers, and related duties.

Qualifications

• Certificate from an accredited Dental Assistant program, including dental radiology and safety training.
• Minimum of two years experience as a Dental Assistant.
• CPR certification from ARC or AHA.
• Bilingual communication skills and experience in a correctional setting are desirable.
• All certifications and resumes must be submitted with the application.

Attire

Professional clothing, such as scrubs, is required. Clothing should be appropriate for a correctional environment; khaki or green clothing is prohibited.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist Dental Officers in various dental procedures, prepare and maintain dental equipment, take radiographs, perform prophylaxis, and maintain infection control standards.
