Job summary

Heartland Community Health Center – Lawrence, KS is seeking a Dental Assistant to deliver comprehensive oral hygiene services to our patient panel. The role reports to the Lead Dental Assistant and operates under Kansas Dental Board guidelines with direct supervision of a staff dentist when available.

This non-exempt, hourly position (roughly $18.00–$25.00) supports clinical and operational activities, including four-handed chairside assistance, charting, infection control, lab tasks, and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to deliver quality patient care.
• Excellent customer service and communication with patients and staff.
• Ability to document accurately in electronic health records and use MS Office.
• Adherence to infection control and OSHA protocols.

Responsibilities

• Check in patients, obtain vitals, x-rays, and review health histories.
• Assist dentists and hygienists with procedures and maintain sterility.
• Prepare patients and equipment, ensure patient instructions are clear.
• Document findings and treatment plans in the chart accurately.
• Maintain provider schedules and clinic housekeeping per SOPs.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and care routines.
