Job summary

Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Dental Assistant within the Office of Clinical Affairs-Extramural Clinics at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. The role supports daily site operations, assists dentists and hygienists, and handles chairside and desk-side tasks, along with inventory, sterilization, and radiation badge maintenance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting Program.
• Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) in the State of New Jersey.
• Valid Dental Radiologic Technology License issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
• CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares room for each patient, setting up instruments and supplies.
• Seats patients, adjusts chairs and light, drapes patients with protective covers.
• Takes and records vital signs at each appointment and updates medical history.
• Passes instruments to doctor during examination and treatment of patients.
• Charts results of doctors' examination.
• Prepares dental materials for the dentist's use.
• Maintains patient records per Quality Assurance Guidelines.
• Pours models, trims and evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts.
• Gives post-operative instructions to patients and dismisses them.
