Job summary

Mount Desert Island Hospital seeks a Dental Assistant to work under the Dentist's supervision. You will prepare patients for examinations, assist during procedures, obtain dental histories and vital signs, sterilize equipment, and maintain inventory.

We will train the right candidate who has a high school diploma; CPR certification is preferred. Certification in Dental Assisting is not required.

Summary

Under general supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Assistant works as a team member to ensure safe, high quality care. Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required

• High school diploma
• CPR Certification and/or preferred
• Certification in Dental Assisting is not necessary. We will train the right candidate with a high school diploma.

Physical Demands

Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises;

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds, assisting with patients and standing and/or walking for most of the day.

Environment

Will work with blood or blood borne pathogens and will require OSHA training;

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment.
