Job summary

Family Dentistry Associates of Johnstown | Johnstown, PA is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Dental Assistant to support a busy seven-operatory practice with one dentist and four hygienists.

The role involves four-handed chairside assistance, radiography within state requirements, and handling impressions and digital scans with CEREC and in-office lab. A strong patient‑first approach and teamwork are essential for smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania dental radiography credential (PA X-ray certification) required.
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
• Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
• A dependable work ethic and attention to detail.
• A caring approach that helps patients feel at ease.
• Experience with digital scanning or CEREC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide four-handed chairside assistance during exams, restorative procedures, extractions, root canals, and other treatments.
• Prepare instruments, materials, equipment, and treatment rooms.
• Take dental X-rays within your credentials and applicable state requirements.
• Take impressions, digital scans, and intraoral photographs as directed.
• Welcome patients, review medical histories as assigned, and help patients feel comfortable throughout treatment.
• Reinforce patient education and post-operative instructions provided by the dentist.
• Sterilize instruments, disinfect treatment areas, and maintain sterilization records.
• Keep clinical supplies stocked and work areas organized.
• Follow infection-control, safety, and patient-confidentiality protocols.
