Job summary

SEARHC in Wrangell, Alaska seeks a Dental Assistant to support dentists and dental team at a general clinic. Core duties include chair-side assistance, operatory setup, sterilization, radiographs, and patient flow; occasional travel to other SEARHC sites is required.

Required include high school diploma or equivalent, BLS, radiology certification, and dental assistant competencies; strong communication, teamwork, and infection-control practices are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire is required.
• Certificate of Dental Assistant Training or 6 months of experience required.
• Dental Assistant I Competency within 3 months and every 3 years.
• Indian Health Service Radiology Certification within 3 months and annually.
• Sterile Processing Competency Assessment within 6 months and annually.
• High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually.

Responsibilities

• Greets, seats and prepares patient in appropriate treatment operatory with equipment and supplies.
• Sets up operatories and assists chair-side using four-handed techniques.
• Performs infection control, sterilization, and prepares sterile packs.
• Performs radiographs and documentation in the Dental EHR.
• Assists with pediatric and orthodontic appointments as needed.
