Job summary

SEARHC seeks a Dental Assistant to support dentists, therapists, hygienists and the dental team across various clinic operations in Southeast Alaska. Responsibilities include chair-side assisting, instrument prep, radiographs, sterilization, and patient flow management.

Position requires High School diploma or Dental Assistant training, plus BLS and competency certifications. Travel to other clinics is expected up to 20% of the time, with a strong emphasis on infection control and patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion of Dental Assistant Training or 6 months of Dental Assistant experience.
• Completion of Dental Assistant 1 Competency form or 6 months of Dental Assistant experience and completion of form within 6 months of hire.
• Completion of Sterilization Course or 6 months of Dental Assistant experience and completion of form within 6 months of hire.
• BLS required within 90 days of start.
• Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years.
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year.

Responsibilities

• Greets, seats and prepares patient in appropriate treatment operatory.
• Prepares operatory in advance of appointment including instruments, radiographs, hand pieces, charts and supplies.
• Assists at chair-side using 4-handed techniques.
• Cleans, prepares, and maintains operatories, lab, central sterilization and tray setup area.
• Travels with providers to provide coverage at other clinics.
• Able to utilize the Dental EHR for basic charting and scheduling.
• Independently sets up and assists for all appointment types in General, Pediatric, and Orthodontic clinics.
• Assists with perio charting and topical fluoride application.
• Accompanies providers on village field trips and assists in scheduling and patient flow.
