Spencer Smiles Family Dentistry is seeking a motivated Dental Assistant to join our Spencer, IA practice. This role supports a range of procedures and ensures patient comfort from check-in through post-treatment instructions.

You will take digital X-rays, assist with radiography, and help maintain infection control standards. Prior experience is preferred; strong communication with patients of all ages is essential.

Qualifications

• Iowa Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credential required.
• Completion of an approved radiation safety course and radiography training per Iowa regulations.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Experience as a dental assistant preferred.
• Calm, patient-centered presence making patients feel welcome and at ease.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance across a full range of procedures.
• Assist with preventive, restorative, cosmetic dentistry, implants, and related services.
• Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral images per state regulations.
• Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment per infection control protocols.
• Set up operatories and prepare instruments and materials for appointments.
• Support patient education on oral hygiene and home care.

Dental Assistant Location: Spencer, IA 51301 | Full-Time Spencer Smiles Family Dentistry is looking for a motivated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team. Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide expert chairside assistance to Dr. Pearson across a full range of procedures
• Assist across our complete scope of services: preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, family dentistry, implant restorations, dental prosthetics, clear aligner treatment, periodontal (gum) disease treatment, laser dentistry, sleep apnea appliances, mouth guards, and emergency dentistry
• Assist with Waterlase dental laser procedures
• Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral images in compliance with Iowa state regulations
• Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols
• Set up operatories and ensure all instruments, materials, and equipment are prepared and ready before every appointment
• Ensure patient comfort and provide calm, compassionate support before, during, and after treatment
• Take dental impressions and assist with lab tasks as directed
• Provide post treatment instructions and patient education on oral hygiene and home care
• Track dental supply inventory and process orders as needed
• Prepare, enter, and track lab cases from submission through delivery
• Maintain accurate, updated patient records in full compliance with HIPAA

Administrative Support (as needed)

• Welcome patients and assist with check-in and check-out
• Schedule and confirm appointments using practice management software
• Answer phones and assist with patient inquiries in a warm, professional manner
• Support billing and additional office tasks as directed
