Job summary

Oral & Facial Surgery Centers of Massachusetts seeks a Surgical Assistant to support surgeons in oral and maxillofacial procedures in Burlington and Cambridge, MA. You will handle pre/postoperative patient care, verify identities and sites, and maintain a sterile field to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires a high school diploma, active RDA, Massachusetts radiology certification, and BLS/CPR. A minimum 1 year of relevant experience is preferred, with DAANCE certification a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• RDA with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry required.
• Massachusetts Dental Radiology Certification required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
• 1+ year dental or surgical assisting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during oral and maxillofacial procedures.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative patient care duties.
• Verify patient identity and surgical sites.
• Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Support unobstructed operative field with suction, retractors, and irrigation.
• Prepare, inspect, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Take and process dental radiographs and imaging.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation and patient narratives.
• Coordinate equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Support additional clinical needs as assigned.

What You'll Do

As a Surgical Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting surgeons and ensuring safe, efficient surgical procedures. Your responsibilities include:

• Assisting surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
• Performing preoperative and postoperative patient care duties
• Verifying patient identity and surgical sites
• Maintaining strict aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Supporting an unobstructed operative field using suction, retractors, and irrigation
• Preparing, inspecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment

• Coordinating necessary equipment and supplies for procedures

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry (required)
