Surgical Dental Assistant
Busy Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery office in Brooklyn is seeking F/T Medical/Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team
Qualifications
- Must be friendly, able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be punctual, professional, and a team player
- Must be respectful to doctors and co-workers, patients and families from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds
- Must be willing and able to learn new skills
- Valid CPR certification preferred
- Knowledgeable of Word and Excel preferred
- Bilingual a plus- please indicate in your resume or cover letter
Duties and Responsibilities
Surgical Assistant
- Accompanies patients to examination/procedure room, assists patients as needed with walking and transferring
- Acts as a patient advocate
- Obtains vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate
- Prepares patients for procedures
- Provides set-up of examination/procedure room and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques established by office and infection control policies
- Prepares consent forms
- Assists surgeon during surgery
- Assists and monitors patients in the recovery room
- Provides patients with discharge instructions
- Maintains examination/surgical room insuring cleanliness and proper stock of necessary supplies
- Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation and other hazardous substances; handles and disposes sharps appropriately
- Complies with OSHA, HIPPA rules and regulations
Pay will vary depending on experience and performance.
