Job summary

Dental Excellence Group in Northwest Ohio is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the clinical team across a range of procedures and patient care tasks. The role focuses on preparing the operatory, assisting the dentist, and educating patients and parents about treatment plans and at-home care.

You will help with imaging, sterilization, and basic lab tasks, while also supporting inventory and workflow to keep the practice efficient and welcoming for families.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about dentistry and able to work with the doctor across a wider variety of dental procedures.
  • Comfortable guiding patients and parents about treatment needs and aftercare.
  • Willing to become credentialed at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist goes.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Education: Greet patients, ensure comfort, obtain health histories, take vital signs, and capture X-rays.
  • Clinical Assistance: Prepare operatory, assist the dentist during procedures, perform expanded functions, and support hospital anesthesia cases as needed.
  • Lab & Sterilization: Take impressions, pour models, and maintain sterilization protocols.
  • Office & Inventory Support: Help with inventory, restock supplies, and support team as needed.

Mission of Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator. The mission of the Dental Assistant is to help facilitate parent and patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The Dental Assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with parents and patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The Dental Assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures. The Pediatric Dental Assistant must become credentialed at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist goes.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Education
  • Patient Comfort: Greet and seat patients, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment.
  • Information Updates: Accurately update health histories, take vital signs, and capture X-rays.
  • Patient Education: Instruct patients on upcoming procedures and proper at-home oral care.
Clinical Assistance
  • Treatment Preparation: Prepare both the patient and the operatory before the dentist enters.
  • Chairside Assisting: Assist the dentist across a wide variety of dental procedures.
  • Expanded Functions: Perform allowed independent duties, including seating crowns, adjusting dentures, and applying fluoride.
  • Hospital Cases: Accompany and assist the clinical team during General Anesthesia cases at the hospital.
Lab & Sterilization
  • Impression Work: Take clinical impressions, pour models, and handle basic laboratory tasks.
  • Infection Control: Sanitize treatment rooms between patients and follow strict sterilization protocols for instruments.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on clinical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Office & Inventory Support
  • Inventory Management: Follow established processes for ordering, tracking, and restocking clinical supplies.
  • Team Flexibility: Complete other duties as assigned to support the team.
