Dental Excellence Group in Northwest Ohio is seeking a friendly Dental Assistant to support doctors and hygienists in a fast-paced, patient-focused practice in Napoleon, OH. You will greet patients, seat them comfortably, update health histories, obtain X-rays, and educate families about procedures and at-home care.

You will assist the dentist with chairside procedures, maintain sterile treatment rooms, prepare the patient and room before treatment, and help with impressions and lab work.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of dentistry and the ability to work with the doctor across a variety of procedures.
  • Credentialing at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist practices.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and seat patient while ensuring patient comfort
  • Update patient information such as health histories, vital signs and x-rays
  • Educate patients about necessary procedures and at-home care
  • Ensure patient and room are prepared prior to Dentist entering treatment room
  • Assist Dentist with a wide variety of procedures
  • Some independent work with patients within the assistant’s scope of practice such as seating crowns, adjusting dentures, applying fluoride
  • Take impressions, pour up impressions and lab work
  • Follow process for ordering supplies and keep area organized
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment
  • Support hospital anesthesia cases as needed
  • Other responsibilities as listed in role description

Mission of Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant reports to the Practice Administrator. The mission of the Dental Assistant is to help facilitate parent and patient understanding of the treatment needed as well assisting the doctor with chair side dental procedures. The Dental Assistant is accountable for creating a relationship with parents and patients, assisting the doctor to increase doctor production. The Dental Assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and be able to work with the doctor in a wider variety of dental procedures. The Pediatric Dental Assistant must become credentialed at the hospital where our Pediatric Dentist goes.
