Job summary

Familia Dental is hiring a Dental Assistant to support our clinical team in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. No prior experience required; on-the-job training will help you succeed.

You’ll assist the dentist, document procedures, take x-rays, and help educate patients on dental health while growing with our caring team.

Qualifications

  • Customer service and communication skills essential.
  • Willingness to learn; on-the-job training provided.
  • Familiarity with dental management software preferred (Denticon).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Must meet state DA duties requirements and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and escort patients professionally from reception to treatment areas.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are stocked with inventory and re-ordered as needed.
  • Record patient medical/dental histories and vital signs.
  • Document procedures per Dentist instructions and legal requirements.
  • Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
  • Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations (as allowed by state law).
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments; set up trays; assist Dentist during procedures.
  • Educate patients on oral health and hygiene practices.
  • Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or safety concerns.
  • Attend morning huddles, chart reviews and regular meetings.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patients’ emotions and needs.
  • Follow company policies and applicable laws.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Job Purpose

To assist the dentist effectively and efficiently in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome and escort patient in a professional and friendly manner from reception area to and from the treatment areas.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and re-order when necessary.
  • Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse.
  • Document/chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per Dentist’s instructions and legal requirements.
  • Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
  • Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations – as allowed by state law.
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist Dentist during dental procedures.
  • Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health, and oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Notify Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns
  • Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews and regular office meetings..
  • Recognize and be sensitives to patients’ emotions
  • Understand and follow company policy and procedures
  • Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Exceptional customer/patient service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work in fast paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Able to carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate
  • Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working within healthcare or related field strongly preferred

Availability / Schedule

Working hours between: M-F, 7:30 AM - 6PM and Sat, 8 AM - 4:30PM

  • 4+ days a week, 30-40 hours per week
  • available to work Saturdays, when needed
  • Full shifts (8-10 hours)
