Education and Experience

High School Diploma, GED or higher, completion of an accredited dental assistance program, and six (6) months experience in a dental office or clinic or 500 hours of dental clinical rotation experience.

Licenses and Certificates

Certification as a Dental Assistant through an accredited College or Technical School. Certified in Dental X-ray proficiency as prescribed by the Texas Department of Health. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, assists the dentist or dental hygienist with patient examinations and procedures, and performs diverse clerical tasks, including:

• Registering patients and managing files.
• Assisting patients with necessary documents for federal and state assistance.
• Preparing insurance forms and obtaining signatures.
• Printing daily schedules for dentists and hygienists.
• Seating patients and preparing them for procedures.
• Arranging dental instruments and materials.
• Assisting with radiographic examinations and processing digital X-rays.
• Disinfecting, sterilizing, and assembling dental instruments.
• Maintaining dental equipment and clinic cleanliness.
• Updating patient records in the DENTRIX database.
• Preparing receipts, collecting fees, and posting daily sheets.
• Responding professionally to phone inquiries and scheduling appointments.
• Supporting dental supplies and equipment inventory management.
