Job description

Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health (“Bienvivir”) is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, independence, dignity, and choices for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (“PACE”).

PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (participants) aged 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home-level care and reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services to help participants remain independent and in their homes as long as safely possible.

Position Opening: Dental Assistant

Under the supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Assistant provides clinical, administrative, and staff support to the dental department. Responsibilities include assisting with dental procedures, preparing and maintaining equipment, and supporting patient administration and records management.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including preparation, instrument handling, and patient management.
  2. Mix and dispense dental materials as needed.
  3. Prepare syringes, anesthetics, and supplies.
  4. Perform suctioning, dressing changes, and assist with relaxation techniques.
  5. Record vital signs and assist with initial patient interviews and charting.
  6. Guide patients within the clinic and communicate with primary care providers for medical clearance.
  7. Enter follow-up appointments and monitor radiation safety protocols.
  8. Provide post-operative instructions and follow-up calls.
  9. Maintain and sterilize dental equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  10. Perform radiographs and manage inventory of supplies.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of dental assistant school
  • Registered to perform radiology procedures with Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
  • Radiology certification
  • Certified Dental Assistant (preferred)
  • CPR certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
  • Maintain 12 hours of continuing education annually
  • Experience working with elderly populations (minimum 1 year)
