Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources seeks a Dental Assistant to support Offutt Air Force Base in Offutt, Nebraska. The role requires a CODA-accredited credential or military/Red Cross equivalent, plus 1 year of experience, radiography and BLS certifications. U.S. citizenship is required.

You will sterilize instruments, schedule patients, assist dentists, take impressions, and help with patient education. Expect full-time hours with federal holiday coverage; apply today.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen required.
• Certificate or associate degree in dental assisting from CODA-accredited program or equivalent military/Red Cross cert.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience within the last 36 months.
• Radiography certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentist in restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic or periodontal procedures.
• Record medical history and treatment information; manage prescriptions as needed.
• Sterilize instruments, prepare surgical trays, maintain equipment.
• Chairside assistance and intraoral procedures; take impressions and manage sutures.
• Instruct patients on post-treatment care and dental hygiene.

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an Exciting Potential Opportunity for a Dental Assistant to support Offutt Air Force Base, in Offutt, Nebraska

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• Degree/Education: Certificate or associate degree as a dental assistant from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA). OR Certification from a military dental technician or dental assistant school. Certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course.
• Experience: 1 year with in the preceeding 36 months
• Certified in Radiography
• BLS through American Heart Association

Duties to include but not limited to:

• Performs duties in providing assistance in one or more phases of complex/difficult restorative, prosthodontic, oral surgical, endodontic, or periodontal treatment. Receives and schedules patients for treatment.
• Obtains and records related medical history of patient. Charts examination and treatment information. Records information on prescriptions.
• Sterilizes instruments, materials, and equipment; prepares surgical trays. Maintains dental equipment in a clean and operative condition.
• Assists dentist at chair side. Performs intra-oral procedures as directed by dentist. Takes preliminary impressions for study models, removes sutures, places and removes rubber dams, perio-packs, matrix bands, and wedges.
• Relays dentist's instructions to patient for post-treatment care. Instructs patient in proper dental techniques, care of appliances, and causes of dental decay.
• Operates dental X-ray equipment to take intra and extra oral radiographs. Maintains, cleans, and performs minor repairs on X-ray equipment and materials.
• Pours and trims models from impressions and constructs custom impression trays. Maintains a variety of recurring reports related to dental activities.
• Patient Workload, Readiness, and Scheduling. Utilizes Dentrix/MHS Genesis to enter patient specific workload and readiness status and also for patient scheduling.
