Job summary

Pediatric Dental Center of Avon is seeking a passionate Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our caring team in Avon, CT. You will provide four-handed, chairside support during orthodontic procedures, manage patient flow, and help prepare rooms and instruments for daily treatments.

Ideal candidates are team players with strong multitasking skills who communicate clearly with patients and doctors to ensure a comfortable, efficient visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide seamless chairside support to the orthodontist using four-handed dentistry techniques
• Greet, seat, and screen patients while communicating concerns to the doctor
• Participate in daily morning meetings and team schedule reviews
• Review patient charts and maintain accurate patient records
• Organize and set up procedure trays according to the day's patient charts
• Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring instruments are clean and sterile
• Break down and reset treatment rooms after procedures and return instruments for sterilization
• Assist the orthodontist during patient procedures, including braces, wires, appliances, Invisalign, retainers
• Provide patient education on care of orthodontic appliances
• Take diagnostic records including intraoral/exterior photographs, iTero scans, X-rays
• Ensure operatories are clean, stocked, and organized

Specific Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Provide seamless chairside support to the orthodontist using efficient four-handed dentistry techniques
• Greet, seat, and screen patients while communicating patient concerns effectively to the doctor
• Participate in daily morning meetings and team schedule reviews to anticipate the doctor's needs in advance
• Review patient charts and maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records
• Organize and set up procedure trays according to the day's patient charts and expected treatments
• Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and equipment are clean, sterilized, and ready for use according to standard protocols
• Promptly break down and reset treatment rooms following procedures and return instruments for sterilization
• Assist the orthodontist during patient procedures, including the placement and adjustment of braces, wires, appliances, Invisalign, and retainers
• Provide patient education on the proper care and maintenance of orthodontic appliances
• Take quality diagnostic records, including intraoral and extraoral photographs, intraoral scans using the iTero scanner, panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, and 3D/CBCT X-rays as needed
• Ensure operatories are consistently clean, stocked, and organized to support efficient patient care
