Job summary

Old Colony YMCA in Plympton, Massachusetts, is seeking a Senior Group Leader to help create a safe, welcoming environment for school-age children at 80 Crescent Street, Plympton, MA 02367. You’ll lead activities, supervise staff, and model kindness while ensuring licensing requirements are met.

The role demands high energy, creativity, and dependable teamwork. You’ll engage kids, manage daily program tasks, and may work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to create a positive, fun, and safe

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 20 years of age.
  • B.S. or B.A. with 9 months experience with school age children, or High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 year working with school age.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
  • Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
  • Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
  • Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker

  • Help keep things running smoothly! Assist with setup, cleanup, organization, transitions, and daily program responsibilities.
  • Take on additional responsibility! Help support the Site Coordinator and gain hands‑on experience with the day‑to‑day operations of a school‑age program.
