Job summary

Civil-Constructors is seeking a Demolition Superintendent to oversee all demolition field operations on our projects. You will supervise and schedule Demo Foremen and crews, manage production, budgets, and schedules, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of demolition projects and ensure activities are safe, on schedule, and compliant with project and regulatory standards.
• Strategically assign demo foremen to projects and ensure proper staffing.
• Monitor daily crew progress, production, labor and equipment costs to meet budgets.
• Review project demo plans and schedules to identify delays and implement mitigations.
• Interview and hire demo foremen and ensure crews are trained and staffed.
• Conduct weekly site visits to ensure a safe and efficient demolition process.
• Handle accountability and corrective actions for foremen and personnel as needed.
• Review daily timecards, diaries, jobsite photos, and safety observations.
• Maintain clear communication with Foremen, Superintendents, PMs, clients, and office staff.
• Attend pre, during, and post job review meetings and progress meetings as needed.
• Ensure proper use of PPE, shoring, and fall protection by field personnel.
• Uphold company values with professionalism toward employees, subcontractors, and clients.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment and promote teamwork.
• Able to stand and walk on rough surfaces in various weather conditions.
• Available to work a 6-day work week or as the job requires.

Job description

The Demolition Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all Demolition field operations related to the company’s projects. This includes supervising and scheduling Demo Foremen & crews and ensuring that production, budgets & schedules are met. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring that demo operations adhere to the company’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all phases of demolition projects and ensures activities are performed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project & municipal requirements and regulatory standards.
• Responsible for strategically assigning demo foreman to projects & ensuring projects are appropriately staffed.
• Monitors daily crew progress, production, salvage, labor and equipment costs to ensure estimates & budgets are met.
• Reviews project specific demo plans & schedules to identify potential delays and proactively implement strategies to avoid setbacks.
• Responsible for interviewing & hiring of demo foreman and ensuring crews are properly trained & staffed. Includes monitoring crew size, classifications & rate of pay.
• Conducts weekly site visits to each assigned project to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient demolition process.
• Responsible for accountability, corrective & disciplinary action of demo foreman & personnel, including termination when necessary.
• Responsible for reviewing daily electronic reporting of timecards, diaries, jobsite photos, quantities, safety observations & JHA’s submitted by Demo Foreman.
• Maintains clear and direct communication with Foreman, Superintendents, Project Managers, Clients, & Office Staff.
• Attend pre, exit & post job review meetings as well as onsite job progress meetings as needed.
• Ensure the proper use of safety equipment, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), shoring, and fall protection, by all field personnel.
