Job summary

The Brennan Center for Justice invites law students to intern with its Liberty and National Security Program for Summer 2027 in New York City or Washington, DC. This in-person internship involves policy advocacy, research, and litigation support across federal and state levels, with real hands-on experience in a nonprofit legal environment.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm EST, with stipends through the Les Fagen Legal Internship Program.

Qualifications

• Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
• Initiative, imagination, and versatility.
• Passion for our issues.

Responsibilities

• Legal research and writing for amicus briefs, policy reports, and advocacy documents.
• Draft communications to legislators and public officials.
• Assist with public comments to federal agencies and participate in coalition meetings.
• Draft posts for the Brennan Center website and other outreach materials.
