Job summary

The Allure Group is seeking a Memory Lane Coordinator for our Brooklyn skilled nursing facility to coordinate dementia unit activity programs and education opportunities for residents and staff.

You will implement creative recreation plans, track participation, and collaborate with leadership to enhance resident quality of life and engagement in daily activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with older adults or memory care residents.
• Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 as required by facility policy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct activity programs for the dementia unit.
• Create a monthly and daily recreation calendar and schedule for the unit.
• Inform residents of activity options and encourage participation and leisure interests.
• Support memory-impaired residents and provide assistance as needed.
• Complete administrative forms and reports for the Director of Recreation.
• Observe and record resident attendance, mood, and engagement; report progress.

Memory Lane Coordinator Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activity programs for the dementia unit
• Create a monthly and daily recreation calendar and schedule for the unit
• Make residents aware of activity options, encourage participation and the pursuit of leisure interests
• Understand the special needs of memory-impaired residents and provide support and assistance
• Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting such to the Director of Recreation as required
• Observe and record resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement in activities, so that facility activities and residents' progress are evaluated, by noting, reporting, and charting resident behavior
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as indicated by the Director of Recreation
• Arrange and attend Dementia education classes and training for staff
• Manage Dementia support groups and education classes for family members

Memory Lane Coordinator Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Previous experience with the senior population
• COVID-19 Vaccination
