Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical data and market trends.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust plans to improve performance.

• Support S&OP processes with analysis and reporting.
• Review forecasts against customer orders to ensure feasible production plans.

• Analyze inventory levels and recommend actions to balance service and cost.
• Coordinate with Production Planning to resolve shortages and capacity constraints.
• Track KPIs like forecast accuracy, inventory turns, and on-time delivery.
• Contribute to new product launches and engineering changes with planning input.

DEMAND PLANNER

Location: Byron Center, MI

Job Type: Temporary with potential for permanent hire

Pay Rate: $20.67/hr

Position Summary

We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Demand Planner to support forecasting, inventory planning, and production scheduling for our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for developing accurate demand forecasts, maintaining inventory targets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure customer demand is met while optimizing production efficiency and inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical data, customer orders, market trends, and business insights.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and recommend adjustments to improve planning performance.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Purchasing, and Production to align demand and supply plans.
• Support the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (S&OP) process through demand analysis and reporting.
• Review customer forecasts and sales orders to ensure production plans align with customer requirements.
• Maintain planning parameters within the ERP/MRP system to support accurate scheduling and inventory management.
• Analyze inventory levels and recommend actions to balance customer service, production capacity, and inventory investment.
• Coordinate with Production Planning to resolve material shortages, schedule changes, and capacity constraints.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service levels, and on-time delivery.
• Research demand fluctuations and identify trends that may impact production or inventory.
• Work closely with Engineering and Operations to support new product launches and engineering changes.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to forecasting, planning processes, and inventory optimization.
• Prepare reports and planning metrics for leadership and participate in cross-functional planning meetings.
• Perform other supply chain and planning duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in demand planning, production planning, inventory planning, supply chain, or manufacturing.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and forecasting software.
• Strong understanding of forecasting methodologies, inventory management, and production planning.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Power BI or other reporting tools is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
• APICS CPIM certification or related supply chain certification is a plus.
