Qualifications

• Knowledge of take-offs, bidding software or similar tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embrace safety culture and support safety initiatives.
• Promote company values, follow ethics and policies.
• Assist with safety, environmental performance, quality and efficiency, and compliance with MSHA/OSHA/EPA.
• Assist bid processes and contract development; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Monitor safety, cost and scheduling with the project team.
• Coordinate material purchases, deliveries, tracking and forecasting.
• Develop and maintain customer relationships.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Perform manual and skilled labor tasks.
• Complete other internship project duties.

Program Overview:

Delta's internship program is designed to provide first‑hand exposure to industry operations, as well as 1:1 mentorship and networking opportunities to students in order to supplement college educational programs in the areas of business, engineering, and construction management. Students in the program have the opportunity to work in various administrative and operational areas, contribute to company goals through completion of focused project work, and apply concepts learned in the classroom to business operations

Main Responsibilities

As part of the internship program, the construction intern will gain exposure to multiple areas of construction operations, including, but not limited to:

• Embrace the Companys safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, andadhere todefined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, andpractice the Companycore values, vision, and mission; follow codeofethics,workplace conduct, safety,and other established policies

• Assist with ensuring the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environmental performance, quality, and efficiency; including compliance with MSHA, OSHA and EPA regulations
• Assist the project team in establishing the sequential steps involved in all processes with the scope of the project, including bid processes and contract development; may attend pre-bid and planning meetings
• Work closely with the project team monitoring the safety, cost and scheduling of construction projects
• Assist with coordination of material purchases, deliveries, tracking and forecasting ensuring maximum utilization of company resources.
• Participate in activities related to development and maintenance of customer relationships
• Operate heavy equipment
• Perform manual and skilled labor tasks
• Complete other projects as a part of the internship program requirements

Skills:

• Previous construction or intern experience preferred
• Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel required
• Knowledge of other computer programs dealing with take-offs, bidding, etc. preferred

Education:

• Enrollment in a relevant degree program, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and clean driving history required

Physical Requirements:

• Travel required; in some roles travel may be extensive and/or require overnight stays
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
