Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Morris Plains, NJ is seeking a dedicated Durable Medical Equipment Technician to safely transport, assemble, deliver, and retrieve equipment for patients.

You will document delivery records, manage inventory, and maintain delivery vehicles, while delivering professional, responsive service. After-hours coverage may be required.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and strong communication as you support patient care and contribute to efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift, move, load, unload and transport durable medical equipment.
• Experience with electronic delivery documentation.
• Must be able to work Tue–Sat 11:00 AM–7:30 PM and be available for on-call.

Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain service records and billing paperwork accurately and on time.
• Configure, test, assemble, and deliver medical equipment to patients.
• Support inventory by documenting equipment and supply orders.
• Maintain delivery activity log and verify recipient identification.
• Safely load, transport, deliver, retrieve, and offload equipment and oxygen products.
• Keep delivery vehicles clean, safe, and operational.
• Provide high level customer service and professionalism.
• Participate in after-hours and on-call coverage when assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for safely transporting, assembling, delivering, and retrieving durable medical equipment and supplies for patients. Ensures accurate and timely documentation, maintains assigned equipment and delivery vehicles, and provides professional, responsive service. This position may also provide after-hours coverage and perform other duties as assigned.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Completes and maintains service records, delivery documentation, and billing-related paperwork accurately and on time.
• Configures, tests, assembles, and delivers new and used medical equipment to patients.
• Supports inventory management by accurately documenting patient equipment, specialty items, and supply orders.
• Maintains an accurate delivery activity log, including verifying and documenting recipient identification in accordance with policy and procedure.
• Safely loads, secures, transports, delivers, retrieves, and offloads medical equipment and oxygen products.
• Maintains assigned delivery vehicles in a clean, organized, safe, and operationally ready condition.
• Ensures a high level of customer service, response quality, and professionalism.
• Participates in required after-hours and on-call coverage when assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate a company delivery vehicle.
• Ability to safely lift, move, load, unload, assemble, and transport durable medical equipment and oxygen products, with appropriate equipment or assistance when required.
• Ability to accurately complete electronic and written delivery documentation.
• Strong communication, customer-service, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, follow assigned routes and safety procedures, and communicate delays or concerns promptly.
• Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM and participate in after-hours or on-call coverage when assigned.
• Ability to complete all required safety, equipment-handling, DOT, and department-specific training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous delivery, warehouse, healthcare, durable medical equipment, or customer-service experience.
• Experience handling medical equipment or oxygen products.
• Familiarity with mobile devices, tablets, GPS navigation, and electronic documentation systems.
