Job summary

HelloFresh is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Deliveries squad to lead backend and frontend engineers, shaping architecture and reliability of the delivery-control experience. You will ensure correctness, data integrity, and timely changes before cutoff, while collaborating with product, frontend, and data partners.

You will mentor engineers, drive design decisions for scalable services (Kafka), and promote observability and incident readiness in a high-scale environment across 7M

Qualifications

• Led a team in an Agile environment (5+ engineers).
• 6+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Deep experience building scalable microservices and event-driven systems (Kafka).
• Experience designing and operating high-throughput backend systems.
• Experience with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Collaborative mindset; work with product, frontend, and data partners.
• Empathetic, strong communicator and self-organized; autonomous problem solving.
• Nice to have: React Native.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and grow a cross-functional team of engineers (backend and frontend).
• Own the architecture and reliability of the delivery-control experience with a focus on correctness and data integrity.
• Drive design decisions for scalable event-driven services (Kafka) with high volume delivery changes.
• Lead in a cross-functional squad; partner with product, frontend and data to deliver outcomes.
• Champion observability, on-call health, and incident readiness across delivery changes.
• Contribute to hiring, capacity planning, and conduct code reviews; mentor engineers.
• Drive a continuous improvement culture and embody HelloFresh DNA.
