Job summary

BiRite Foodservice Distributors in Brisbane, CA is seeking a Transportation Router to plan and optimize outbound delivery routes for a high-volume food distribution operation. You will coordinate with warehouse, transportation, and dispatch teams to ensure on-time, cost-efficient deliveries.

Responsibilities include routing with RoadNet Anywhere, balancing loads per DOT and HOS rules, real-time route adjustments, and generating standard templates to maximize fuel efficiency and service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; logistics coursework a plus.
• 2+ years in route planning, dispatch, or transportation logistics (food distribution preferred).
• Proficiency with routing software (RoadNet), TMS, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Routing and load planning to optimize outbound deliveries.
• Use RoadNet Anywhere to generate daily routes by volume, time windows, zones, and trailer capacity.
• Balance loads to meet DOT axle and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
• Create and maintain standard route templates for efficiency.
• Adjust routes in real time for traffic, call-offs, or late orders.
• Analyze routing data to improve performance.
• Coordinate with Shuttle Drivers and Night Warehouse for loading.
• Maintain routing schedules, shipping instructions, and records.
• Support cost-saving process improvements and customer satisfaction.
• Communicate route assignments to drivers and teams.
• Ensure DOT compliance and food safety protocols.
• Train new staff on routing software and safety.
• Participate in route reviews and provide efficiency recommendations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
