Job summary

Porter Pipe & Supply in Madison, WI is hiring a Delivery Pro to support same-day deliveries and uphold our ridiculously good customer service standards.

As part of the Delivery Pro Team, you will operate CDL B licensed trucks, complete pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure accurate records while following dispatch instructions. A positive attitude, strong math and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or with a team are essential.

Qualifications

• CDL B license is required; CDL A is a plus.
• Minimum of 1 year local, same-day delivery or truck driving experience.
• High school diploma or GED must be obtained.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to organize tasks and maintain accuracy in documentation.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of delivery trucks and complete on-time deliveries.
• Provide exceptionally good customer service.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document any anomalies.
• Follow delivery and pickup instructions from dispatch.
• Unload cargo at customer destinations and maintain records.
• Keep daily/monthly trip logs and comply with safety rules.
• Assist with warehouse duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Safely and efficiently operate a variety of trucks (straight boom truck, semi-tractor trailer).
• Provide ridiculously good customer service
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document any anomalies.
• Follow delivery/pick-up instructions from the dispatch department.
• Unload cargo at customer destinations.
• Keep a record of materials and products transported.
• Promptly report all incidents/accidents.
• Maintain daily and monthly trip logs according to local, state, and federal regulations.
• Adhere to all company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Assist with warehouse duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience safely and efficiently operate a variety of trucks (straight boom truck, semi-tractor trailer).
• Ability to safely and efficiently drive a stick shift truck.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Effective communication skills in English.

What You’ll Bring

• CDL B Required. CDL A Preferred.
• Flatbed hauling experience preferred but not required.
• Valid medical card.
• High school diploma or GED.
• One year or more of prior local, same day delivery, truck driving experience.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk long distances for extended periods of time.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, elements, noise, and fumes.
