Job description

Senior Manager / Director-level enterprise delivery leadership

Own the whole implementation, from solution definition through stable operation.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Delivery Lead to own complex enterprise marketing technology implementations for major clients. You will lead the full lifecycle: immerse and define, plan and design, iterative build, end-to-end testing, deployment, hypercare, and transition to ongoing operations.

You will be accountable for the integrated outcome across UX and functional design, technology, content, testing, organizational change, and program management. You will also serve as the senior client-facing leader and primary escalation point for the engagement.

This is a player-coach role for someone who combines systems-integration rigor with enough solution architecture depth to challenge a design, expose dependencies, translate between business and technical teams, and know when specialist expertise is required.

About Block+Tackle

Block+Tackle is a professional services firm that helps leading brands solve the systems, data, content, and operating-model problems that cause marketing execution to break down at scale. Our clients include The Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific, and Marriott. We design and implement the foundations that allow marketing intent and context to travel reliably across teams, systems, agencies, and workflows. The result is less rework, faster activation, and a marketing organization that can scale with greater confidence.

What This Role Is
  • An end-to-end delivery owner, not a PMO-only coordinator.
  • An architecture-literate program leader, not a narrow workstream architect.
  • The integrator across client teams, agencies, platform vendors, and Block+Tackle specialists.
What You'll Do

Own end-to-end delivery and governance

  • Take accountability for scope, budget, milestones, quality, risks, dependencies, resources, and the overall client outcome.
  • Build and maintain one integrated plan across Block+Tackle, client teams, agencies, platform vendors, and other implementation partners.
  • Establish program governance, decision rights, delivery cadence, escalation paths, and clear accountability across workstreams.
  • Maintain a current view of program health and make timely tradeoffs across scope, sequence, capacity, cost, and risk.

Shape the plan and the solution

  • Lead discovery and requirements definition across business, experience, content, data, integration, security, environment, and operating-model needs.
  • Translate the desired business outcome into a solution blueprint, prioritized backlog, release plan, test strategy, content plan, and change approach.
  • Create traceability from requirements and architecture decisions through build, testing, release, and acceptance.

Maintain solution and architecture integrity

  • Partner with technical leads and architects to validate application, integration, data, identity, security, environment, deployment, and support designs.
  • Challenge design choices, make tradeoffs visible, and prevent local workstream decisions from undermining the end-to-end solution.
  • Recognize when a decision needs deeper specialist input and bring the right expertise into the room before it becomes a delivery issue.

Orchestrate the complete delivery system

  • UX and functional: guide workflow design, experience requirements, functional specifications, backlog quality, and business acceptance.
  • Technology: oversee application configuration, custom development, integrations, data flows, environments, CI/CD, and technical documentation.
  • Content: integrate content inventory, migration, modularization, creation, approvals, and quality assurance into the delivery plan.
  • Change and adoption: align stakeholders, communications, training, readiness, and handoff to the client's ongoing operating team.

Lead testing, deployment, and transition

  • Own the integrated testing strategy across functional, UX, integration, system, performance, content, and user acceptance testing.
  • Drive defect triage, release readiness, cutover planning, deployment, hypercare, and transition into stable run operations.
  • Ensure that the delivered solution is operable, adopted, and supportable, not merely technically complete.

Lead the client, the commercial, and the team

  • Build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, product owners, enterprise architects, marketing leaders, and delivery counterparts.
  • Translate complex issues into clear decisions, implications, options, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery against the statement of work, including financial performance, staffing, assumptions, change control, and partner obligations.
  • Mobilize multidisciplinary teams, set a high quality bar, coach workstream leads, and create the conditions for people to deliver their best work.
  • Strengthen Block+Tackle's delivery playbook, reusable methods, estimates, and quality standards as the firm grows.
What Success Looks Like
  • The program operates from a single integrated plan with clear governance, ownership, decision rights, and escalation paths.
  • Requirements, architecture, backlog, testing, content, change, and release decisions remain connected throughout delivery.
  • Cross-workstream dependencies surface early, decisions happen at the right level, and delivery surprises are minimized.
  • The client receives a stable, usable solution and an operating team that is prepared to run it.
  • Block+Tackle leaves the engagement with stronger client trust, reusable delivery assets, and a more mature implementation model.
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of consulting or systems-integration experience, including at least three years owning complex enterprise programs at a Senior Manager, Director, or equivalent level.
  • A track record of leading the entire implementation lifecycle in a tier-one enterprise environment, from definition and solution design through deployment and operational handoff.
  • Solution architecture fluency across applications, integrations, APIs, data, identity, security, environments, deployment, and support models, with the ability to interrogate a design and understand its delivery implications.
  • Strong MarTech knowledge across platforms such as Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, CDPs, CMS or DAM platforms, marketing automation, modular content tools such as Knak, and related integrations.
  • Command of Agile delivery and the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, backlog management, testing, release, cutover, hypercare, and operational transition.
  • Experience managing multi-party delivery, statements of work, budgets, staffing, forecasts, assumptions, and change control.
  • Executive-level communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to create clarity when the work is ambiguous or under-defined.
  • Experience at firms such as Accenture Song, Deloitte Digital, Publicis Sapient, IBM iX, Slalom, Capgemini, or a comparable systems integrator is highly relevant. Hands-on leadership experience in a smaller or growing consultancy is a plus.

How You Operate
  • You think in systems and operate in the details.
  • You move comfortably and confidently between executive conversations, architecture reviews, backlog tradeoffs, and team unblockers.
  • You are calm under pressure and willing to surface uncomfortable delivery truths early.
  • You bring a low-ego, high-accountability style and take responsibility for the whole outcome.
