Aboff's, Inc., a stalwart in the paints and home improvement supplies industry, is pleased to announce an opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Delivery Driver/Sales Associate. This full-time position based in West Hempstead, NY, involves managing timely distribution and delivery of supplies directly to our clients in and around New York City, while also assisting with sales and inventory management in various locations.
This position is integral to ensuring that Aboff’s maintains its tradition of exceptional service by effectively meeting the needs of our customers both in logistics and service. It is not a remote job and requires physical presence, offering a hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive between West Hempstead and multiple locations in New York City to deliver paint and supplies efficiently and timely.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles before and after each trip, ensuring that each load matches delivery instructions.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on delivery vehicle to ensure it is always in good working order.
- Manage documentation related to deliveries, such as orders and receipts, and ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Provide outstanding customer service during delivery, resolving customer issues and maintaining the high standard of the company reputation.
- Assist with sales and consultations in-store when not engaged in deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and report on shortages or issues in supply chain management.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to improving delivery strategies and processes.
- Work collaboratively with sales and store teams to facilitate a smooth workflow across departments.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation and safety laws.
- Initiate and cultivate positive relationships with regular clients to support recurring business opportunities.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in logistics or related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years driving and delivery experience, especially in an urban setting like NYC.
- Strong organizational and time management skills — able to maintain a strict schedule starting at 5:30 AM and manage a 10-hour workday.
- Physically fit to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies frequently.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in managing logistics documentation and have basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations patiently and professionally.
