Job summary

Red Rabbit is seeking a driver to support the Regional Director and Head Chefs in delivering meals to school programs across the DC area. You will be a key contact for school partners, ensuring timely deliveries and exceptional service, starting around 6:00 am, Monday through Friday.

We value punctuality, attention to detail, teamwork, and a passion for equity in urban education. The role includes multi-vehicle delivery, lifting up to 75 lbs, and being reliable in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years driving in DC area required.
• 2+ years customer service or retail experience required.
• Valid driver’s license held for 5+ years; <3 points on license.
• Ability to drive multiple size vehicles and maintain safety.
• Must be organized, reliable and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and on-time delivery to all schools on route, including keys, milk, supplies, bins and bags.
• Communicate obstacles or problems to team leads immediately.
• Follow daily reports and route sheets.
• Provide school feedback to kitchen leadership in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with school partners to maintain strong working relationships.
• Navigate DC area without relying on GPS and find alternate routes when needed.
• Practice food safety throughout the delivery process.
• Assist with daily tasks needed for operations.

About The Role

The driver role is important to Red Rabbit’s success, providing support to the Regional Director and Head Chefs in delivering meals to school programs in the D.C. Area. Areas of execution serving as a key contact to our school partners, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries to all schools, and providing exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate is someone who is punctual, detail-oriented, has excellent customer service and shares our passion for creating equity within our urban schools. A person must be able to get on location reliably at approximately 6:00 am Monday - Friday.

Essential Functions

• Ensure accurate and on-time delivery to all schools on route - including keys, milk, supplies, bins, and bags


• Communicate any obstacles/problems immediately to team leads


• Follow daily reports and route sheets


• Communicate any school feedback to kitchen leader in an timely manner


• Collaborate with school partners to ensure a great working relationship - provide information and assistance when needed


• Navigate DC Area without reliance on GPS and find alternate routes when needed

• Assist with daily tasks needed for operations

Skills Needed

• 5+ years driving experience in DC area


• 2+ years customer service or retail services, utilizing strong interpersonal skills to establish relationships with school partners


• Valid driver's license for 5+ years, less than 3 points on license


• Demonstrated knowledge of safe driving ability


• Demonstrated knowledge of DC streets


• Able to drive multiple size vehicles


• Work well independently and in a team


• Ability to lift 75 lbs on a regular basis


• Must have thorough communication skills


• Must be extremely well organized and detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task


• Must be reliable, function well within a team and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment.

Hours: TBD (may vary by route, early morning flexibility a plus)

Compensation: $19 - $22 / hr
