Job summary

Florist Distributing, Inc. is seeking a Delivery Driver to operate a company van and deliver perishable flowers, plants, lawn & garden items, and durable hard goods along an established route. The role requires loading, unloading, and ensuring on-time delivery with attention to proper packaging.

Hours vary seven days a week and may include evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50–100 lbs are essential; experience with MSDS information is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a Department of Transportation driving record.
• Experience handling perishable flowers and packaging.
• Ability to read MSDS and follow instructions.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50–100 lbs.
• Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver packages to designated locations on time.
• Assist in loading company trucks for delivery of product.
• Sort packages by route, customer, or commodity.
• Package fresh flowers and other items; use proper packaging techniques.
• Obtain customer signature on shipping manifest.
• Refuel company vehicles and report maintenance needs.
• Perform duties in a timely manner and handle miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Work evenings and weekends as needed.

Hours of operation are seven days a week. Specific scheduling for this position will be discussed during the interview process and will adjust based on the fluctuation of business and holidays.Reporting RelationsAccountable and Reports to: General Manager & Operations ManagerPositions that Report to you: NonePrimary Duties and Responsibilities:Deliver packages to designated locations on time.Assist in loading company trucks for delivery of product.Sort packages by route, customer, or commodity.Understand proper packaging techniques for all items, including fresh, perishable, flowers and durable goods.Assist in the packaging of fresh flowers.Use a dolly or two-wheeler to load/unload product.Collect empty containers, rejected, or unsold merchandise from the customer.Obtain customer’s signature on shipping manifest.Refuel company vehicles using corporate fleet card.Advise company of routine maintenance needed on company vans.Perform duties in a timely manner.Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary.Report to work when scheduled and on time; works evenings and weekends as needed.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:Use a box strapping machine to prepare packages.Assist in keeping the packaging area clean.Move packaging containers and material to appropriate place in warehouse.Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary. Education and Experience:Six months or less of similar or related work experience. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.Physical Requirements:Must be able to perform work duties in a refrigerated environment.Must be able to physically perform light to moderate work: exerting/lifting 50 - 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 10-40 lbs. frequently.Visual abilities required include clarity at all distances, color and peripheral vision, and depth perception.Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.Working Conditions:The duties of this position are performed in a warehouse setting.
